Bay Area Capital Connections III
Investment and Business Resources for Companies in Urban Markets
Friday, October 24, 2008
8:00AM - 6:30PM
Computer History Museum
Mountain View, CA
This is the premier regional event for small and mid–sized minority and other urban–based companies with innovative and scalable business models that seek equity capital and have a strong interest in developing new jobs and other economic opportunities for Bay Area residents. The Bay Area Capital Connections conference series brings together CEOs and senior executives at these companies with top business experts and investors for a day of learning and networking.
The Alliance for Community Development and the Bay Area Council co–organize this annual conference with the assistance of wide range of partners in ethnic minority business, investment, academia, private industry, and government to provide critical business and financial information on how to access equity capital to entrepreneurs, CEOs, and other members of fast–growing companies. While we specifically look for companies that are led by ethnic minority CEOs who are also interested in "double bottom line" performance objectives—i.e. building companies capable (either now or in the future) of generating market–rate financial returns and positive social benefits such as the creation of new jobs for local residents, the conference is open and we welcome all attendees. As an organizing theme, the conference focuses on attracting a different major minority business community each year. This year we are particularly interested in drawing attendees from the Asian business community.
Entrepreneurs and CEOs: The conference provides an intensive one–day introduction to the financial resources and management tools needed to take your start–up or existing company to the next level. You will have opportunities to make valuable personal contacts with business experts and investors for future follow–up calls and meetings.
Investment Professionals: The conference provides an opportunity to meet CEOs from a large number of promising minority and urban–based companies at one event. We also offer a unique deal presentation session for up to 10 selected minority–owned/led companies from a broad cross–section of industries who are seeking an equity investment. These companies come through our extensive referral sources in minority and urban-based business communities in the Bay Area.
General: The conference will feature keynote speakers who are highly successful leaders in the Bay Area's business community. What are their views on trends and philosophies in business management, technology, and investing? Are there useful insights for how you do business or make investments?
To provide updated information for CEOs and entrepreneurs who are seeking equity or debt capital in today's environment, we have asked workshop panelists to comment on how the recent upheavals in the financial sector may affect business investing and lending and to provide practical suggestions on how companies can increase their chances of getting funding. Hear from top financial and business experts on what you need to do to build and expand your company in these difficult times.
The conference format and content will be similar to the 2007 conference. For information on the 2007 Bay Area Capital Connections [PDF] conference, click on link to view or download the conference program.
